Is a Third Sex and The City Movie a Possibility?

Michael Patrick King, creator of Sex and The City, says he believes there is one more Sex and The City story left!

The Comeback Sex and the City sarah jessica parker Michael Patrick King Entertainment Weekly Carrie Bradshaw

While being interview by Entertainment Weekly about the possible comeback of The Comeback (OMG!!!!!!!) the idea of a third installment of Sex and The City came up (OF COURSE IT DID!) “Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.” Said Michael Patrick King. I’m a fan of Sex and The City through and through! I know that the movies are not comparable to the series, but if you’re a fan of the show, watching these movies brings you back to the show that started it all and makes you feel HAPPY! At least it does for me, girl! Tom Campbell thinks Blue Jasmine was really Sex and The City 3 and Cate Blanchett‘s character was really Carrie Bradshaw. But what do you think? Would you want a third Sex and The City Movie? Carrie and Big have a baby? Samantha gets married? Charlotte divorces Harry (*sad face*)? Miranda’s really a lesbian?! Options, people! Options!

A Few First Impressions about My Nude Vacation

Nude Dudes nevernudes My Nude Vacation Key West Island House Key West is beyond lovely, of course. More like a movie set than an actual place. At any minute you expect Tennessee Williams to toddle out of one of Victorian houses that line the streets, holding a mint julip in one hand and waving a perfumed handkerchief in the other. It’s THAT kind of place. Very: “Ahh do declare.”

Island House, the clothing-optional resort at the tip of the island (where I’m staying), is charmingly decadent. Beyond the lobby, there’s a lush courtyard with a pool and probably a dozen or so penises on parade. Try not to stare. (But I think they like it when you do.) There are little winding paths leading to private patios and hidden sun decks and sudden sex jacuzzis and lord nows what else (I’m still exploring). The rooms are decorated in the sort of smutty-chic style that you’d expect from a modern, upscale sex hotel – lots of rich chocolate leather accents and ornately framed oil paintings of nude men done in an Old Master style. Perfect for whatever EyesWide Shut-style orgy you can finesse.

The men (and it’s ALL MEN, ALL THE TIME) are a delightful mélange of body types, from twinklets to grampas to muscle queens to a jolly Santa Clause impersonator – definitely not the body fascists I worried about on the plane-ride here. And everybody seems very carefree, very non-judgmental, almost hippy-like in their nonchalance.

I’m still not naked, of course, but I think I’m going to the pool wearing one of the little hotel-provided sarongs and maybe do some deep knee squats or leg-thrusting exercises to get myself used to the idea of showing my junk.

I’ll keep you posted.

WhatsApp Icon Designer Walks Away Short of a Few Billion Dollars

Today Facebook bought WhatsApp, a popular global messaging service, for $19 billion in cash and stock. Sorry, let me type that one more time just to make sure it’s right: $19 billion. Ugh… that will never sound real. OK, back to reality.

Naomi Branz designed WhatsApp’s first icon back in 2009 for a $100 fee, agreed upon before countless revisions and hours spent struggling to design for developer Jan Koum who was shrouded in secrecy and weirdness. When the project was finally finished, Koum offered to hire Branz again, but hoped to pay LESS than before, asking if they could “work out a better deal.” Branz declined, citing her estimated hours and freelance design rate.  Koum is now worth $6.8 Billion, and Branz has since exhausted her $100 paycheck. SO, Jan Koum, Naomi Branz understandably would like to know: can you work out a better deal?

Mid-90′s Computer Facts

Remember a world with floppy disks, paying for the internet by the minute, and dial up? Read the full list of mid-90′s computer facts after the jump!

Computer Facts 90s 90s nostalgia

  • if you were up to date your computer was probably running windows 95
  • there was no standard word processing application (I used Word Perfect, who remembers that one?)
  • “the internet” was usually synonymous with “AOL” (although some folks used Prodigy or Compuserve)
  • AOL had a lot of content, including message boards, chat rooms, IM, etc.
  • fandom existed primarily on newsgroups, mailing lists, and message boards
  • if you were on AOL, you might find fellow fans by SEARCHING THE PROFILES OF ALL AOL USERS FOR INTEREST IN YOUR FANDOM AND THEN RANDOMLY IMING THEM CAN YOU BELIEVE WE USED TO DO THAT AND IT WORKED JFC
  • chatting for non-aol users was accomplished with IRC and ICQ (uh oh!)
  • the best web browser was Netscape Navigator
  • you paid for internet BY THE MINUTE and it was a great day when AOL changed to a flat monthly fee for unlimited access
  • you didn’t use the internet for too long at a time anyway because you were tying up your phone line. Or, you got a second line for your computer.
  • websites involved lots of tiled backgrounds, flashing text, and marquees. Most had a single banner image because graphics took forever to load.
  • the word “blog” did not exist
  • fanfiction was hosted on your own personal website or on an archive website someone in your fandom set up. You might have fic in multiple archives.
  • to share fanfic with people IRL you either had to save to a floppy for them or print it out.
  • the bulk of mailing lists were on egroups which later was purchased by yahoo and turned into yahoo groups
  • website hosting services included GeoCities, angelfire, Xoom, and others I feel like I’m forgetting right now
  • web search was ineffective and fairly useless. You had to search multiple providers (yahoo, alta vista, lycos) which would each give vastly different results, until metasearch came along and consolidated them for you
  • to find sites in your fandom you would go to one site and see which webrings they were a member of, then look through the webrings. Some people wouldn’t let you into their webring if they didn’t think you were cool enough.
  • every website with fanfic had layers and layers of disclaimers and if applicable adult content warnings you had to click through to get to the content
