OK, everybody’s got secrets and nobody’s perfect – duh. But if you discovered that the man you married is a closet cross-dresser, what would you do? Contrary to what you might think, people don’t only flip out when sh*t gets real. While drag queens are a dime a dozen these days, the world of married heterosexual cross-dressers is maybe one you don’t see coming. Buckle your seatbelts and clamp your wigs, because Forbidden Love delves into an entirely new and fascinating world: real-life families whose patriarch Andy also goes by Mandy.
Can you imagine uncovering your husband’s secret life by finding photos of him dressed head to toe as a scantily clad lady? Or your husband retuning home from a long day of work, taking off his construction boots before slipping into a simple negligee? Just take a moment to picture it. The reality of this double life rings true for many couples around the world – more than you think. Perhaps because they are British, tables and prosthetic legs don’t go flying around when these real housewives discover their husbands’ closet lifestyle. Instead, they sit down with a nice cup of tea – all T, no shade.
The series follows very different couples in similar circumstances: ‘Mandy,’ ‘Christine-Jane,’ and ‘Catie,’ to name a few, are all unassuming heterosexual men. That is, until the nail polish, razors, wigs, lipstick, and pantyhose come into the mix.
Crossing dress at home is one thing, but going out in public is quite another. Imagine being mistaken for a lesbian couple with your hubby, dressed in her Sunday best. Bathroom etiquette becomes cloudy when your husband takes hours double shaving his chest, back, hands, and feet.
Forbidden Love explores the hilarity, absurdness, and tenderness that each of these couples have embraced to keep their relationships strong. Check out a trailer and more about the show here.
